Daily Prep Episode 202: Square Foot Gardening Update

It’s been almost 2 months since I planted my square foot garden, and it’s time to give you an update.

Unfortunately…it’s not much to show.

At this point, I’m ready to chalk up my losses on most of my square feet that aren’t producing, and plant some fall crops.

    Sad day. I was hoping you had a forest. Oh well. I had about the same success this year. :/ More water?

      yeah it definitely could use more water. It was getting watered really good by our landlords sprinklers at first, but isn’t getting hit anymore…

    How deep is your soil? It looks pretty shallow. Next year you might want to try deeper soil an then mulching after the plants are established to retain moisture. Just a thought. Gardening can be trial and error. Also, a garden journal is helpful to reference.

      I like the garden journal idea. Especially makes sense for the things that you have to SWAG, so you have some sort of documentation on it. I think you’re right on the soil. It was supposed to be 6 inches (like the book recommends), but I don’t think it ended up that deep. It could be that there just isn’t enough to hold the water in…
