For today’s best of web monday, I wanted to throw to the library of Geoff Lawton videos on permaculture.

For those of you who might not be familiar with Geoff Lawton, he is one of the foremost authorities on permaculture on the planet today. Although he hails from Australia, he travels all over the world to consult, teach, and assist with permaculture projects.

If you go to his site, you will notice that Geoff offers some paid classes (and even an online permaculture design course), but the videos that I’m referring to in today’s prepisode are all FREE (I should say that you do have to opt in with your email to access them).

So what are these videos about?

Good question. Some of the titles include:

  • Urban Permaculture
  • Property Purchase Checklist
  • Cold Climate Permaculture
  • Rooftop Farms
  • Desert Oasis
  • Food Forests Across Climates
  • Chicken Tractors on Steroids

As of writing this (9/1), there are 24 videos, but he adds more and more all the time. The plus side of opting in with your email, is that he will send you a notification email every time he adds a new one.

Why is Permaculture Important for Preppers?

Put simply, permaculture encompasses the most efficient “bang for your buck” systems of producing food, medicine, and fuel (back off permaculture snobs, I said “put simply”…).

If you truly want to maximize the return on your land area, rainfall, sunlight, and animals, I’m convinced that there is no better way to do this than through permaculture.

People that are incorporating permaculture principles are:

  • growing tons of food in a small footprint
  • minimizing weeding ¬†and pruning
  • improving soil, for greater and greater yields, year after year
  • modifying the immediate microclimate around them

If this sounds interesting to you, Geoff’s videos are a great place to start! (not getting any kind of kickback, just a great site)

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy these, and are motivated to take some action on your own.

Prep On,

-Dan
